    September 11th Terrorist Attacks
    On September 11th, 2001, four airplanes were hijacked by 19 individuals from the terrorist group al-Qaeda. These airplanes flew to their individual targets, The World Trade Center, the twin towers in New York, and The Pentagon. Two of the planes crashed into the Twin Towers, One into The Pentagon, and the last did not make it to its target and crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. The attacks killed a total of 2,996 people and caused over $10 billion in damage.

    The day after the terrorist attacks on 9/11, President Bush came to ground zero to survey the damage. While atop the rubble, he gave an address to the workers and survivors through a bullhorn. HE addressed the damage and proclaimed that the United States is on its knees in a prayer to any of the families of people who have passed.

    On September 18th, 2001, 17 letters were received to multiple media news stations and two U.S. senators. These letters contained a deadly bacteria known as Anthrax. These letters were assumed to be another act of terrorism on the U.S.. This scare killed 5 people, infected 17 others, and lead to a widespread investigation by the FBI. They suspected Bruce Edwards Ivin, but he committed suicide before he could be convicted.

    War with Afghanistan
    On September 12, 2001, President Bush declared the terrorist attacks that took place on 9/11 an act of war. He called out Osama bin Laden as the leader of the attacks and calls upon the groups hiding him to give him up. When Al-Qaeda and the Taliban fail to give him up, the U.S. launches missiles at Afghanistan. 3 days later, congress officially declared war on these groups.

    In January 2002, President Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act. This act required all student from grades 3-8 to be tested each year in Math and English to make sure they are learning. This act also gave title I schools the tools to help mentally handicapped students get the same education at a slower pace.

    The Nuclear Arms Treaty, otherwise known as the Treaty of Moscow, was signed on May 24th, 2002. This treaty began a strategic decline in nuclear weapons between the United States and Russia in order to try and regain peace between the nations. It also put a restriction on the amount of nuclear arsenal each country could hold.The treaty was signed in Moscow by both President Bush and leader of Russia Vladimir Putin.

    Congress authorizes war on Iraq
    After the attacks on 9/11, Bush began an operation to find the mastermind behind the attacks Osama bin Laden. This began the attacks on Afghanistan. On October 7th, 2002, congress authorized the declaration of war on Iraq to continue the fight on terrorism and the search for Osama bin Laden.

    Space Shuttle Columbia self-destructs
    On February 1st, 2003, the space shuttle Columbia was scheduled to reenter the earths atmosphere after orbiting the earth. Upon reentry, the space shuttle disintegrated and killed any and all crew inside. This tragedy was the second most popular space shuttle explosion, second to the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger.

    On March 19th, 2003, Bush gave an address to the United States public informing them about the War on Iraq. He assured everyone that we have the upper hand and we are only trying to bring peace in the middle east. He said "The people of the United States and our friends and allies will not live at the mercy of an outlaw regime that threatens the peace with weapons of mass murder." to tell the people we will not stand by and watch terrorist murder.

    Operation Red Dawn was the task of finding the terrorist leader Saddam Hussein. The team searched two camp sites and found Saddam in a "spider hole" and 20:30 hours Iraq time. Saddam did not resist capture and came quietly into the hands of the American soldiers.

    The 9/11 Commission Report is the final report of the events leading up to and happening on 9/11. This report was made to help the people better understand what happened during the attacks on 9/11 and what lead up to the attacks. the final report came out for the public on July 22nd, 2004.

Many people believed Bush had been the right choice in the past election and wished for him to continue his presidency for another 4 years.

President Bush then announced that there will be humans on the moon again by 2020 in preparation for an exploration journey to mars. This goal was thought of by President Bush and NASA has been working hard to make that dream a reality.

    Roberts was nominated to the supreme court o September 29th, 2005, by President George W. Bush. Roberts took the opening after the former justice William Rehnquist passed away. He has a very conservative mind as described in his judicial philosophy.

    After Saddam Hussein was found by American troops, he went on trial for his actions against the country. The final ruling was that he had violated human rights and on November 5th, 2006, was sentenced to death by hanging. On December 26th, his appeal was rejected and on December 30th, he was executed by hanging.

    President Gerald Ford passed away on December 26th, 2006. He was 93 years old at the time of death. He died in his home in Rancho Mirage, California.

The war in the middle east had been raging on since 2001 on the 9/11 attacks, and was thought to be over with the capture of Saddam Hussein. But Bush revealed he was placing more troops in Iraq to end this war for good
  • Virginia Tech Rampage

    Virginia Tech Rampage
    The Virginia Tech Rampage was a mass shooting done by student Seung-Hui Cho on April 16th, 2007. Cho shot and killed 32 students and injured 17 in two different locations before committing suicide two hours later. This attack led to outrage by parents of the students and fellow classmates and called upon the government to reconsider gun control laws. When the attack took place, it became the deadliest mass shooting by one gunman in U.S. history.
