The Manhattan Project
The project was issued to make a bomb that would stop WWII. It was dropped on Japan to stop them. This eventually started the Cold war because USA and Russia were fighting for power.

The Marshall Plan
This gave $12 billion (about $120 billion today) to the western half of economic recovery. This made most of the western countries in Europe in USA's debt, eventually causing them to repay it.
