Geological time line

  • 38,000 BCE

    Earth gets water

3.8 Billion years ago, the Earth was filled with tons of boiling hot magma. Then a TON of asteroids and comets ( that carry ice ) crashed into Earth giving it water
  • 13,800 BCE

    Big Bang

Within the tiniest fraction of a seconds the smallest force of gravity pulled two elements/atoms together and thus the universe was created. This was approximately 13.8 billion years ago
  • Period: 541 BCE to 252 BCE

    Paleozoic era

Started with the cambrian explosion 541 million years ago and ended 252 mya. During the Paleozoic Era, the first life form with vertebrae existed and plants were everywhere and the climate in Pangaea was very humid.
  • Period: 252 BCE to 66 BCE

    Mesozoic Era

This era began about 252 mya and ended 66 mya. This was the start of life for many evolving and adapting reptiles/early dinosaurs.
  • 175 BCE

    Drifting of Pangaea

175 mya, towards the end of the Paleozoic era and the start of the Mesozoic era tectonic plates began to shift and Pangaea split into Laurasia and Gondwana and then the 7 continents we have began to drift into their places very slowly.
  • 66 BCE

    Extinction of the Dinosaurs

About 66 mya it is presumed that some kind of very large asteroid, meteor, or comet hit Earth wiping out pretty much all forms of life.
  • 66 BCE

    The start of Cenozoic Era

The Cenozoic Era started around 66 MYA and is know for being the time when mainly mammals inhabited the Earth.
  • 66 BCE

Large evolutions of birds/ other mammals

Around 60 MYA birds and other mammals started evolving rapidly and started to look like many of todays common animals
  • Period: 12 BCE to

    The Holocene epoch/ Period

The Holocene started around 12 mya ago. The first sign or early humans came into the picture around 2 mya.
  • The forming/creation of Earth

Around 4.5 billion years ago gravity pulled gases, dirt, and other particles into a swirling motion. This happening over the span of approximately 29 million years is how Earth was formed
