Quaternary Period- 2 MYA - Today

Quaternary Period- 2 MYA - Today
Ice ages occured, as well as the presence of humans. Animals began to change into what they are today. Humans became a higher powered race, and advanced incredibly fast withing the thousands of years we've been here.
  • 65

    Tertiary Period- 65 - 2 MYA

    Tertiary Period- 65 - 2 MYA
The continents were getting closer to the formations they have today. Mammals and birds we're very large in size, and most look familiar while others have interesting shapes.
  • 144

    Cretaceous Period- 145 - 65 MYA

    Cretaceous Period- 145 - 65 MYA
This period is known for the asteroid that wiped out the a large percentage of all types of dinosaurs. Mammals started getting more complex, and plant life evolved.
  • 199

    Jurassic Period- 199 - 145 MYA

    Jurassic Period- 199 - 145 MYA
Pangea began splitting apart. Dinosaurs we're becoming more complex, and large, and small mammals appear.
  • 251

    Triassic Period- 251 - 199 MYA

    Triassic Period- 251 - 199 MYA
Life on land was more populated than life in the water. Dinosaurs were starting to dominate the earth.
  • 298

    Permian Period- 298 - 251 MYA

    Permian Period- 298 - 251 MYA
During this time, the largest mass extinction in history occurred. The Supercontinent Pangea was forming, which caused severe weather and geologic issues.
  • 358

    Carboniferous Period- 358 - 229 MYA

    Carboniferous Period- 358 - 229 MYA
Massive swamp forests and plants were all over. Coal began to form in these forests do to the pressure of all the debris. Amphibian like creatures and giant bugs were on land.
  • 416

    Devonian Period- 416 - 358 MYA

    Devonian Period- 416 - 358 MYA
Plants were growing larger in size. Aquatic creatures were moving their way to more shallow waters and even land.
  • 443

    Silurian Period- 443 - 416 MYA

    Silurian Period- 443 - 416 MYA
Sea levels rise, and land climates become warm and stable. Plant life moves onto land, which were most likely lichen forming onto rocks.
  • 485

    Ordovician Period- 485 - 443 MYA

    Ordovician Period- 485 - 443 MYA
Most of the world was completely ocean, and a lot of the land had formed a supercontinent Gondwana. Life was becoming more advanced and dangerous.
  • 570

    Cambrian Period- 570 - 500 MYA

    Cambrian Period- 570 - 500 MYA
The Earth was an ocean world, and in the water there were millions of diverse species of life
