    Benjamin Mays President of Morehouse College
    Mays was a mentor to Martin Luther King Jr. He also took leadership roles in commitees including the NAACP. He was the president of the Morehouse college until 1967, so he served for 27 years.

    In the White Primary, blacks weren't allowed to vote in elections. The Court case King vs. Chapman went to supreme court, who ruled White Primary unconstitutional. Blacks voted in the Primary election for the first time in 1946.

    Also called the 3 governors controvercy. This was a controversy between Herman Talmadge, Melvin Thompson, and Ellias Arnall. The Talmadge forces wanted Eugene Talmadge's son, Herman Talmadge, to be governor because he had run his Father's campaign for governor successfully. Melvin Thompson was the Lt. Governor, who the job as governor was supposed to go to. Thompson was apart of an Anti-Talmadge group. Ellias Arnall refused to leave office until the new governor was decided.
