Scott Long (human right activist)
Scott Long is an American activist in the human rights movement working for the rights of LGBT. He was born in Radford,Virginia and graudated from Radford University and got a PHD at Harvard University. After getting his PHD he went to Hungary and got involved in the lesbian and gay rights movement. he was the first to organize a course on sexuality and gender at the school in Hungary he was teaching at. then He was executive director of the LGBT rights program at the Human Rights Watch. -
Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Riots mark the beginning of the Gay rights movement, they took place at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village a popular a gay bar. After years of discrimination the LGBT community decided enough was enough and took a stand against the police during a routine raid and that turned into a riot. The police burned down and destroyed the bar whiched caused New Yorkers to show sympathy to the gay community. This support helped the GLF and the GAA form and start gaining ground. -
The APA removes homosexuality from the DSM
The APA deleted the diagnosis of homosexuality as a sexual deviation from the DSM-II. Homosexuality is still in DSM as SOD later EDH(people "in conflict with" their sexual orientation) but was all together removed in 1987 and the APA from then on supported the LGBT lifestyle -

Because of the “Don't ask don't tell” policy more than 12,000 officers were discharged because they refused to hide that they were homosexual. It also did little to change the behavior of the commanders. After a study by the pentagon came out showing that repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell' would have little impact, the Policy was eventually repealed. -
Problems Suicide and Bullying
Bullying of LGBTQ youth not only comes from other youth but also family, the government, and society as a whole. The suicide rate in LGBTQ teens is higher than any other part of the American youth population. It increases as more anti-gay legislation is passed and the culture staying heterocentric. Programs like The Trevor Project and the It Gets Better Project have helped decrease suicide. Fixing one problem will decrease the other. -
