Galileo is born in 15 February, 1564 in Pisa. His parents were Vincenzo Galilei and Guilia Ammannati. -

Galileo’s family moved to Florence where they lived for a long period of time. -

Galileo went to university
Galileo went to University of Pisa where he studied medicine. However, his interest change and went to study Mathematics. Galileo then suicided to make Mathematics his profession even though his father is against it. -

Galileo’s father died and gave him a hard time. -
Galileo became a Mathematics Professor
Galileo became a professor at the university of Padua until 1610. He worked on a lot of experiments such as the speed of how different objects fall, mechanics and pendulums. -

Galileo’s inproved telescope
Galileo heard about the telescope that was invented in Holland. Even though he hasn’t seen the invention, he constructed an improved version and made many astronomical discoveries. -

Galileo discovered lot of things in space. These included mountains and valleys on the moon, sunspots, the four largest moons of the planet Jupiter and the phases of the planet venus. This made him famous and was appointed in Florence. -

Galileo moves to Florence and observed the changing shapes of Venus and Saturn. He then publishes a book called ‘The Starry Messenger’. -

Galileo travels to Rone to Introduce his better and improved telescope. -

Galileo is invited by Pope Urban III to write a book discussing alternative theories of the universe. He then writes ‘Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief Systems of the World. -

Galileo’s impact on society
Using his telescope, Galileo made a lot of observations on our Solar System. He that the Earth and other planets orbited around the sun which is the same idea that Copernicus did. This then continued to be our image of the Solar system and helped us to gain more knowledge about the solar system. -
Galileo passed away
Galileo died in 8 January, 1642 in Arcetri, near Florence.
