Missouri Compromise
A compromise made by the U.S. Government that made it to where anything above 36 30 would be "Free states" and anything below would be "Slave states". Many southern politicians refused the compromise and instead wanted all states to have slaves be legal. (New Georgia Encyclopedia) -

Freedman's Bureau
The Freedman's Bureau was a group that helped both blacks and whites that helped build hospitals, schools, and even gave out food to people. They had tried to force women to work fields. (New Georgia Encyclopedia)
