    Known as the seven years war. It was caused by the controversy over whether or not the Ohio River valley was part of the British Empire or the French Empire. The British beat the French in the French and Indian war.

    The Treaty of 1763 ended the French and Indian war. The French and British signed the treaty in agreement after the British won over the French.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was issued by King George III. It forbid the settlement west of the line drew along the Appalachian Mountains. This made sure that the Europeans would not settle on the Native American’s land.

    The Great Britian opposed a tax on the British colonies in America. This tax required most printed materials to have a tax on them. The colonists had no say in the tax and they were not happy. The colonists arranged boycotts, riots, and attacks on tax collectors because of the tax. In the end, the House of Commons voted to repeal the tax.

    The Boston Massacre was started by a protest by Patriots who were protesting the occupation of their city by British troops. The British ended up shooting several Patriots that were protesting. The massacre had a big impact on the relationship between the British and the American colonists. This made the American colonists angry and they wanted to fight more for their freedom.

    The Intolerable acts were laws passed by the British Parliament. These acts were supposed to be “punishment’ for the Massachusetts colonists for what they did at the Boston Tea Party.There were four different acts placed. These acts closed the harbor, replaced the elected local government with an appointed one, colonists accused to crimes were tried in England, and colonists had to quarter the troops. These acts made the colonists even more angry and would lead to the first continental congress.

    This was the first battle fought in the Revolutionary War. It was fought in Massachusetts and the Britsh had moved toward Lexington and Concord to seize the colonists’ military supplies. Paul Revere took his ride and said the famous line,” The British are coming.” The colonists lost many minuteman but was considered a military win for them.

    The Battle of Cowpens was fought in Cowpens, South Carolina. The U.S. was under Brigadier General Daniel Morgan and the British was under Lieutenant Colonel Sir Banastre Tarleton. The Americans won this battle and was a very big thing for the war for their independence.

    The Battle of Yorktown was fought in Yorktown, Virginia. The battle was a conclusive victory by the combined force of the American Continental Army troops. They were led by General George Washington and the French were led by Comte de Rochambeau.

    The Treaty of Paris was signed in Paris by King George III. The document ended the French and Indian War. France gave up all it’s territory in North America and ended all foreign military threats to the British there.
