Squanto
Squanto was a just a boy when he was kidnapped by English sailors and taken to their country to serve. He was taught English and later returned to America as a guide. When he returned to the village where he had lived, he found it empty--sickness had killed them all. He played a vital role in the Pilgim's survival that first winter and it is his friendship with the setttlers that is attributed to the "First Thanksgiving."
