King Louis XVI was executed by a guillotine on January 21, 1793.
Queen Marie Antoinette was also executed by a guillotine on October 16, 1793. This marked the begginning of the Reign of Terror. -
Napoleon becomes emperor
Napoleon rose swiftly through the ranks of army and government during and after the French Revolution. He, literally, crowns himself as emperor of France. -
Napoleon invades Russia
Napoleon attempts to invade Russia, but the Russian army retreated to the capital and burned everything on their way back so when Napoleon´s troops arrived at a city they couldn't find anywhere to stay nor any food. In the end, Napoleon decided to retrieve to France in defeat. -

Napoleon abdicates as emperor and flees out of the country. -
Battle of Waterloo
Battle in which Napoleon was finally defeated by the British and the Prussians (the allies). He had a chance to attack the British forces before the Prussians were there to join in the battle, but he made the crucial mistake of waiting for the muddy ground to dry before attacking.
