  • Storming of the Bastille

    It was proof that if people used force, they could overpower the monarchy. They did this because they were mad at the king and the lack of government.
  • Women's March on Versailles

    A riot during the beginning of the french revolution. The women were upset about the price and value of bread available.
  • May 5, 1789 meeting with the Estates-General

    This marked the start of the french revolution. They were trying to decide if they should vote by head or by estate.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    A pledge they signed at the beginning of the french revolution. It was the belief that power came from people and not the rich royalty monarchy people.
  • Declaration of the Rights of Man

    This established the rights of man. These rights were freedom, ownership, security, and resistance of oppression.
  • Execution of King Louis XVI

    King Louis XVI was executed on January 21, 1793. He was executed publicly after proof was found of treason in Tuileries Palace.

    Reign of Terror

    The Reign of Terror was a time in the French Revolution when public executions were up to the thousands. The killings were anyone from suspects of counter revolutionary beliefs/treason, to people actually guilty.
  • Maximillien Robespierre's execution

    After being arrested on the 27th of July, 1794, Robespierre was executed publicly. They were executed by guillotine at the Place de la Révolution.
  • Napoleonic Code is established

    This was a code that mainly addressed matters that had to do with family and property. This was the first big change in laws since the roman era.
  • Napoleon Crowns himself emperor

    Napoleon crowned himself emperor because he wanted to be part of the royalist and Catholic circles. This remade the monarchy in France.

    Napoleon was mad about Portugal not following the continental blockade against trading with Britain. In the end, the British won the war after driving out the French.

    Napoleon and his men march on Russia

    When Napoleon and his men marched in Russia, Russia ended up losing 200,000 men. Russia being invaded made Napoleon's Europe march come to a pause. This also gave him his first exile.
  • Napoleon is exiled to Elba

    When Napoleon was exiled, the Bourbons were able to take power again. He was exiled because the people he was enemies with wanted to send him somewhere he couldn't escape from.
  • Napoleon dies

    Though many people believe Napoleon arsenic poisoning, the real reason is unknown. He was 51 years old when he died at Island St. Helena.
