Meeting of the Estate General

National Assembly voting

Storming of the Bastille
Rumors were heard that King Louis was trying to dismiss the National Assembly by involving military forces, so a mob which was searching for arms stormed The Bastille, in order to protect the city from Louis's plans. The Bastille was a prision in France. Declaration of the rights of man and citizens
This document was a document which was very similar to the document of zthe Declarsation of Independence (U.S.A). It said that a person shall live with prosperity, liberty, equal rights, and security. Bread riots
Lots of women which were living in Paris, rioted against the governmnt because of the increasing prices on bead. During the year of 1790: The Assembly Reforms France

New Constitution created
King Louis hesitantly agreed to the National Assembly creating a new contitution which stated limited monarchy as a government, and which in result took lots of power away from the king. The constitution also introduceed the Legislative Assembly (have the power to create and reject laws). Royal family attempts to flee France
The royal family tried to escape from France, in order to go to the Netherlands, but on their way to the border, they got cought by a guard that forced them to return. Monarchy is abolished
The consitution of 1791 was put aside by the Legislative Assembly. It put aside/removed the king, called for a new electin of legislature, and dissolved, or broke apart the Assembly. A new governing branch was formed, it was called the National Convention. Louis XVI is sentenced tto the guillotine
Since the National Convention had taken away Louis's powers, they made him into a normal citizen. Many people were accusing him because he betrayed the government. New constitution is adopted
The leaders from the National Convention made plans for a third constitution to be made. This constitution gave most of the power to the "upper middle class", and made an executive branch called the Directory (corrupt people) and a two house legislature.
