    France entered the SevenYears War to keep its claims on Canada. France ended up losing the warand Canada. The country was left in debt that King Louis XVI had to figure out how to repay. He decided that he would tax the only the third estate which out raged them.

    Marriage of King Louis and Marie Anotoinette
    Louis and Marie were married to create an alliance between the royal families of France and Austria. Marie Antoinette was from Austria and was very hated for that. Louis refused to even touch her the firdt night of their marrige. The couple also had trouble having children which made people hate Marie more.

France had to figure out a way to pay back the debt so they put heavy taxes on the third estate. They also loced the third estate out of the metting which outraged them. This marks the beggining of the revolution

    The National Assembly is formed by the third estate it is supposed to represent the whole nation. The third estate broke into a near by tennis court and swore they wouldn't give up until they made a constitution. The National Assembly lasted two years. After a constitution is made they ended and a new government came into place.

    A crowd of women from the fish market took a 12 mile march to the palace of Versailles. Once the women got to the palace they rioted demanding that the King and Queen give them bread. When the women didn't get what they wanted they stormed into the castle demanding the head of Marie Antoinette.

    Marat was assassinated by Charlotte Corday. Corday went to see Marat to "give him a list of names that were against the revolution". She stabbed him the chest and he was instantly killed. Corday was caught and beheaded for her crime. Marat was seen as almost a Godly figure and people were very upset about his death.

    100 Days

    The 100 days begins when Napoleon returns to France after escaping his exile to Elba. The Battle of Waterloo was the climax of the 100 days. Wellingtons army and the Prussians retreated but Napoleon decided to advance on Wellingtons army which resulted in a loss for Napoleon. Napoleon pleas to live like a countryman in England but is denied and is exiled to St. Helena where he later died.

    Death of Robespierre
    Robespierre was arrested in the middle of 1794 and put in prison. While he was in prison he was given a gun to kill himself. He failed at his attempt to kill himself and blew off his jaw he was then executed by the guillotine. His death marks the end of the Reign of Terror.
