  • Tennis Court Oath

    Tennis Court Oath
    The tennis court oath started when the 3rd estate was denied a new Constitution. The 3rd estate was planning to have a meeting, but they were locked out of their normal meetings place. They met in the tennis court instead a refused to leave, until they got what they wanted.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    800 Parisians wanted weapons to be kept and stored in the Bastille. The Parisians tried breaking into the fortress, but the commander opened fire. Many people were killed in this event and this became a symbol of revolution.
  • Flight to Varennes

    Flight to Varennes
    The Royal Family tried to escape and go to Austria. They were unsuccessful and got caught/arrested by the Varennes' townspeople. They were taken back to Tuileries and the whole town was furious so they called Louis a traitor.
  • Abolition of the monarchy

    Abolition of the monarchy
    After the September massacres and Louis becoming a prisoner the legislative assembly was let go and a new ruling body gained power. The National Convention was the new ruling body. The National Convention declared France as a republic and was divided into 3 main parts.
  • Passing the Law of the Maximum

    Passing the Law of the Maximum
    There were a lot of riots, so the National convention attempted to pass the Law of the Maximum. The Law of the Maximum was a law that would equal food prices. If merchants went over the maximum price of an item they were fined 2 times how much they priced the item for. This law actually did not solve any problems and just made the farmers produce less food.

    Reign of Terror
    The Reign of Terror was a day that the government decided to harshly punish anyone that seemed to be an enemy. This event had economic, price-control, and religious sides involved. During the terror 300,000 people were arrested and 17,000 were killed by execution.
  • Treaty of Basel

    Treaty of Basel
    The Treaty of Basel was an agreement between France and Spain. This treaty was an agreement to restore Spain's lost territory. France gained Santa Domingo, but this treaty really angered Britain.
  • Siege of Mantua

    Siege of Mantua
    The Siege of Mantua was the Austrian Army trying to takeover Northern Italy. This happened, because the Austrian army was not included in the region. The siege lasted 4 months.
  • Constitution of the Year

    Constitution of the Year
    This constitution was to help laws with property and legislation. The constitution of the year was made by Napoleon Bonaparte. It was voted on and accepted by 3 million people.
  • Napoleon

    Napoleon
    Napoleon establishes the French consulate. He also overthrows the directory. This is when the French Revolution ended.
