Storming of Bastille prison
A large angry mob marched to the Bastille to free prisoners taken by KIng Louis XVI, whom they detested. They successfully free 7 prisoners. -
Slave rebellion begins
A rebellion of slaves starts in Saint-Domenique adding to the long list of rebellions during the French Revolution. -
King Louis XVI accpets new constitution
A new constution replaces the old one and King Louis has finally acknowledged and accepted it. -
First guilllotine used
The guillotine becomes a symbol of the French Revolution. It is first used on April 25, 1792 -
France becomes a republic
France adopts the new form of governement changing from an aristocratic monarchy to a reublic. -
KIng Louis XVI executed
After his atempt to flee in June of 1791 , the king was brought to his december trial in 1792. He was guillotined a little over a month later. -
The Reign of Terror/Red Terror ends
The period known as the Red Terror or the Reign of Terror ended with the fall of Robspeirre. 1,400 were guillotined during the final six weeks of the period of time lasting a year. -
French Revolution ends
The Constitution of Year X was made and enacted. This is the year that Napoleon becomes Consul for Life and the effective dicator of France. -
Napoleon Bonaparte crowns himself emperor of France
An odd part of his coronation was that he didnt allow the pope to crown him, instead he crowned himself. After his coronation he also made himself ruler of all of Italy. He also started to return people to aristocracy, but only the people who had served him well. -
Napoleon exiled to Elba
One year before Edmond Dantes is imprisoned Napoleon is exiled to the Isle of Elba. -
Edmond Dantes is imprisoned
Edmond Dantes is wrongly imprisoned for conspiring in the return of Napoleon. -
Louis Dantes dies
Louis Dantes, tha father of Edmond, dies from greif and starvation. -
Edmond Dantes is free
After escaping from the Chateau d'If, Dantes is found in the sea and is rescued by the Jeune-Amelie and its crew and captain. Edomond Dantes is finally free after fourteen years! -
Caderousse is murdered
Caderousse dies from the stabs Bendetto gavehim after he denounces God and the Count has revealed himself. He dies inthe Count's house. -
Villefort goes insane
Monsiey de Villefort goes crazy after his true self is revealed by his illigetimate son. When he fless home he finds that not only his wife, whom he told to kill herself, but his son Edouard is also dead. These two deaths are that last straw for his sanity -
The Count of Monte Cristo doubts himself
When he sees that his revenge has gone to far and killed a small boy, the Count questions whether or not what he was doing was what God wanted him to do. -
Danglars is held by bandits
The Count of Monte Cristo seeks his revenge by telling Italian bandits that are indebted to him to capture and keep captive Monsieur Danglars. They starve him and take all of his money. Eventually the Count has mercy on Dangalrs and sets him free without a penny left to his name. -
Maximilien and Valentine find eachother again
The Count brings Valentine "back to life" and takes Maximilien to the Isle of Monte Cristo where the two lovers are reunited.
