Over 22,000 rifles were stolen on July 14th 1789 but they, the rebels did not have power and they knew where it was: The Bastile, they went and attacked it and this was very important because that building was a sign that the king had absolute monarchy over them and they could destroy it so that meant that he no longer had that power.
