National Assebly
It was established June 4th 1789. Declaration of the Rights of man and of the Citizen. It was formed by the representatives of the Third Estate. And it was disbanded July 9th 1789. -
Flight to Varennes
Royal family with King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette try to get out of France. Afterwards they were arrested after being recongnized. This attempt to escape untimatley led to his exicution in 1793 -
New constitution
King Louis XVI properly signs the new constitution. It was created ny the national assembly. This constitution would define the autority and powers of the new government. -
War
France confirm war against Austria. France worried that Austria was going to restore King Louis XVI's throne. That meant that they had to protect their republic. -
National Convention
The national convention followed the suspension of the monarchy. It was elected by a broad franchise of people. It had gained much of its control over policy committees most importantly the Committee of Public Saftey. -
Reign of Terror
It went from September 5th, 1793 to July 27, 1794. The Reign of terror begins as Robespirre, declares that terror will be the "order of the day". It was also to take harsh measures against those suspected of being enemies. -
Queen is executed
Queen Marie Antoinette was tried in court by the Committee of Public Safety. On October 16th Marie was declared guilty. She was to be killed at the guillotine. -
Robespierre is executed
He was executed on July 28 1794. He was killed at the guillotine. He was killed without trial. -
"La Marseillaise"
"La Marseillaise" was adopted as the national anthem of France. It was written in 1792 by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle. It was a revolutionary song that was an anthem to freedom. -
Napoleon overthrows
Napoleon overthrows the Directory and establishes the French Consulate with Napoleon as the leader of France. The Directory was replaced with the Commmittee fo Public Safety. Some people think that this ened the revolution
