    Louis XVI became king on May 10, 1774. He was given the title due to the death of his grandfather. King Louis XVI was only 20 when he inherited the throne. His grandfather had already left him with financial problems as it is and it turns out King Louis only made the matter worse.

    In 1789, King Louis XVI called the Estates General to meet for the first time since 1614. The reason he did this was to try to get more money for his government. His government was in bad condition. This was because most of the wealth of the country was held by the nobility meanwhile the peasant, the worker, etc who had barely enough to feed themselves were forced to pay taxes. King Louis wanted to raise the taxes on the nobility but was not able to, therefore he was forced to call the estate.

Once there they took the governor, freed prisoners, and took the powder

    Like most people in France, they were starving. So the women of France decided to take matter in to their own hands. Over 7,000 women marched to the place of Versailles demanding bread. Although King Louis was the cause of the problem, the women were more upset with Marie Antoinette. The women soon stormed the castle and demanded to see the queen. As the king and queen stood there trap they had no choice than to made a deal. They gave the women all the bread that was in the castle.

After King Louis reached his destination both his wife and him were locked up and taken back to France were he was put an trail. He was soon convicted of conspiracy with foreign powers and was sentenced to death.

    The Reign of Terror or The Terror was a period of extreme violence during the French Revolution led by Maximilian Robespierre. He had the idea that the best way to rule was through fear. In one of his quotes he say "Terror is nothing other than justice, prompt, severe, inflexible". The main punishment would be the guillotine. If you were seen as a traitor you would be killed, if you disobeyed an order you would be killed, anyone that seemed like would be executed.
