The National Assembly was formed because the Third Estate was tired of the other estates always giving them the bad end of the deal.

The Third Estate rebels against the king, and a giant mob storms the Bastille and takes it. -
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen
The National Assembly adopted this on August 27th. It contained Enlightenment ideals and outlined the basic freedoms of people. 'Liberte, Equalite, Fraternite" -

France declared war on Austria and it was called the War of the First Coalition. This is when the draft was first established. -

People who were against the king decided to storm the Tuileries, so King Louis and his family asked for the Legislative Assembly's help. -

The National Convention
The National Convention was created after the downfall of the Legislative Assembly. The National Convention contained two factions: the Jacobins and the Girondins. One very controversial Jacobin was Robespierre.

The Committee of Public Safety was created to put down an internal rebellion in France. They were given dictatorial power and ruled for about a year. -
