  • The Estates

    The Estates
    The estates consisted of three classes. The clergy, first estate, nobility, second estate, commoners, third estate. They each had one vote. the clergy and nobility would normally choose opposite of the commoners leaving them with no power.
  • The Tennis Court Oath

    The Tennis Court Oath
    The first and second estates cam together and faced a financial crisis. The king closed the hall where national assemblies were held, so they gathered at a tennis court instead. The group stayed together until a new constitution for France was put together.
  • The storming of the Bastille Prison

    The storming of the Bastille Prison
    Many people were upset with the resistance to change the monarchy. So, many French citizens stormed the prison. They used gun powder and weapons to defend themselves against the monarchy.
  • Declaration of the Rights of Man

    On August 26 1789 a document was released. This document was called the "Declaration of the Rights of Man" It basically stated the all men were born free and equal. This was the base to the new French constitution
  • Women’s march on Versailles

    Women’s march on Versailles
    Many people in France because of poor harvested food and an increased price on food. This angered many people. Women began to protest in the markets, but received no attention from the monarchy. Becoming more frustrated the group killed palace guards and forced the royal family to go to Paris to live amongst the people.

    The Royal family attempts to escape
    As the king was in France he began to fear for him and his family. He came up with a plan to go to Austria and wait for the revolution to end. The royal family were dressed as servants but were later recognized trying to leave Paris. They were arrested and brought back to paris
  • The Reign of Terror

    The Reign of Terror
    The national assembly was replaced by the Nation Convention. The convention was also known as the public safety, protecting the republic from traitors. Many people were suspects and were arrested and and some were executed.
  • The King’s execution

    The King’s execution
    Aftering trying to escape France the people became angry and went against the king. A group of 20,000 went to the palace demanding justice and the king and queen were put in jail. Later, the king was executed in front of a crowd
  • Robespierre’s execution

    Robespierre’s execution
    Robespierre used his power to his advantage and went out of control. Many people were scared because of his mindset of killing people. Like many others he was executed. Ending the reign of terror.
  • Coup d’état

    Coup d’état
    As the new constitution was being written there was a group of 5 members. This group quickly became corrupt and faced financial problems. Later a Coup d’état went out removing the group of 5 people.
  • Important Event

    I think that the most important event was the king being executed, because if that didn't happen I think that the revolution would've gone on for a longer period on time.
