The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen
A declaration adopted by the National Assembly which was based on Enlightenment details, outlying basic freedoms held by all and asserting the sovereignty of the people. It was also the source of the motto, "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite," which means "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity," three principles the people wished to be enforced. -

The people of France despised King Louis XVI so they convicted him of treason and then executed him by guillotine. -
The Reign of Terror
Robespierre beheaded thousands of people in an act of rebellion, one of which was Marie Antoinette. However, it got out of hand and the people overthrew him on the 9th Thermidor meeting and executed him. -
