The third estates declared the National assembly.
Third estates people was living unfair life.They had few rights.They paid up to half of their income in taxes while the rich paid almost none.Also each estates had cast one vote.The top 2 estates always voted together and got their way.But third estate had a lot of delegates so they want all the delegates have one vote each but king and nobles doesn't agree with it.So the third estates broke up and they renamed it National Assembly. -
Tennis court oath demanding certain right from the king
Louis tried to make peace.He ordered the clergy and nobles to join but some rumors flew that Swiss soldiers paid by Louis were going to attack French citizen.And the French revolution start. -
Storming of the Bastille
An angry crowd captured the bastille, a Paris prison.The mob wanted to get gunpowder for their weapons in order to defend the city.Peasants broke into and burn nobles' houses.They tore up documents that had forced them to pay fees to the nobles. -
Right of man and of the citizen.
The national assembly took steps to change France.One new law ended all the special privileges that members of first and second estates enjoyed.Also there was one more new law that gives all the man has equal right.Unfortunately woman didn't get equal rights yet. -
The "Flight to Varennes"
During this time royal family was fearful for their safety in France.So they tried to escape from France but they were caught and brought back to Paris, and live under the guard.After this, king and queen became more less popular. -
The Legislative Assembly
The assembly drew up a new constitution that gave the king very little power.Then assembly handed over its power to a new assembly which called legislative assembly.However it divided in to opposing groups.One group wanted an end of revolution and other group wanted even more radical change. -
Other country kings wanted to restore control of France to Louis XVI
Kings in other countries feared that the French revolution would spread to their land.They wanted to use force to restore power of Louis XVI.Many people thought that king and queen were ready to help the enemy so angry French people imprisoned them.Many nobles were killed in other mob action.After this happen king totally lose his power. -
The National convention is established
The new government formed which was called national convention.It declared Louis a common citizen and then executed him with guillotine.Also they ordered thousands of French people into the army. -
The reign of Terror.
Maximilien Robespierre began to lead French.He made many changes.He killed people who disagree with him.His rule was called reign of terror.It ended July 1794 when Robespierre himself was put to death. -
French people was tired of this revolution.
France got a new, but less revolutionary, plan of government.Tired of the killing and unrest, the French people wanted to return to order. -
Napoleon Bonaparte became master of France.
He led soldiers against French royalists who were attacking national convention.For this, he was hailed as the savior of the French republic. -
Napoleon seize the power
The unsettled French government had lost the power people's support.In a bold move, Napoleon use troops to seize control of government.He then wielded complete power over the country.King of other countries feared of his power. -
Napoleon made several changes.
He made several changes that were meant to build on the revolution's good idea.He made tax system more fair and orderly, he remove dishonest government workers, he started new public school for ordinary people, he gave back some power to church and he wrote a new law that gave all French citizens same right,However new laws took away many individual rights won during revolution.They limited free to speech and restored slavery in French colonies. -

Napoleon wanted more power.
Napoleon wanted more power.Therefor he moved to add to his power in Europe.He made himself emperor of France.He quickly captured country after country.Other country joined together to stop him but after Napoleon won major battle in Austria, almost all of his enemies agreed to a peace treaty. -
First mistake of Napoleon.
His first mistake was caused by his desire to crush Britain.He wanted to hurt the British economy.He tried stopping all trade between Britain and the lands he controlled.The effort fail for some Europeans secretly brought in British goods.Soon the French economy , along with others. -
Second mistake of Napoleon
His second mistake was to make his brother king of Spain in 1808.Spanish people were loyal to their own king.Therefor they fought back against Napoleon for five years.Napoleon lost 300,000 troops. -
Third mistake of Napoleon
Napoleon's third mistake was perhaps his worst.He tried to conquer Russia, far to the east.He entered Russia with more than 400,000 soldiers.He got as far as Moscow, which was deserted and on fire.Also Napoleon thought that it will be easy war but he didn't think that it'll took so long and he didn't prepare for winter, food and supplies.Many soldiers died because of cold weather, starve of hunger and killed by Russian troops.After they come back, only 10,000 of its men were able to fight. -

Napoleon gave up his throne and was sent away
Other leaders saw that Napoleon was weaker now, and Napoleon was defeated in Germany.He boldly returned to France and had lost his final battle near a Belgian town called Waterloo.This time he sent to southern Atlantic Ocean and died there in 1821. -
The congress of Vienna
After Napoleon's first defeat, in 1814 leaders of many nation met for peace plan for Europe.Key person of this plan was Klemens von Metternich.He insisted on three goals.First was French should not attack other country.Second he wanted to balance the power so one country can not be too strong.Third he wanted to put kings back in charge of country.French revolution makes people believe in equal rights. -
Successful or Not.
French revolution was not successful because first time, their first goal was remove the monarch but after French revolution, it came back.This is like circle which they wanted to remove monarch and they success but later on monarch was back.
