  • France is in debt

    King LouisXVI tries to tax the Second Estate but the nobles refuse to pay.France was in debt from having to pay for two wars. The French and Indian war and also the American Revolution... King Louis tried to tax the nobles who refused to pay and said that the third estate should pay instead seeing they made up 97% of the population.

  • King Louis calls for Estate Generals.

  • The French Revolution Begins

    When the french people revolt against the king because they think that its unfair that the king, his family, the nobles, and the clarities are eating food when the peasents and unwealthy people are starving.

  • The Third Estate

    The Third Estate proclaims themselves the National Assembly; National Assembly swears the Tennis Court Oath. They threaten the king that they will revolt against him.

  • The Storming of the Bastille

    When the French people saw the King's troops come to paris, they thought that the king was going to attack and so they stacked up on weapons and stormed the Bastille prison to get gun powder for the guns. After wards they destoryed it the Bastille.

    adopts the Declaration of the Rights of Man of the Citizen.

    France will be a republic and not a constitutional monarchy

    King Louis XVI executed by the guillotine.

    The Reign of Terror is unleashed by the Committee of Public Safety; Led by Maximilien Robespierre.

    Napoleon invades Spain and Protugal; the king of Spain goes to prison and the king of Portugal flees to Brazil.

    France recognizes Louis XVIII, brotehr of executed Louis. Napoleon manages to come back to France, Louis XVIII flees to Belgium in fear. Napoleon arrives in Paris on March 20 to cheering crowds, and the Hundred Days begin.
