    Tennis Court Oath
    The Tennis Court Oath was created by members of the third estate. After being locked out of a meeting to discuss tax reforms, the citizens met in the tennis courts at the Palace of Versailles. The citizens agreed that they would not leave the tennis court until a new constitution was written for France.
  • Storming of Bastille

    Storming of Bastille
    The Storming of Bastille occurred in Paris, France in a prison known as Bastille. The prison was destroyed by angry mobs, and the prisoners were brutally murdered publically. The mobs were searching for gun powder. It Resulted from King Louis XVI ordering troops to Paris and Versailles to protect his monarchy.

    The Declaration of Rights of Man and of the Citizen is a document that laid out the basic principles of the French Revolution. These principles are liberty, equality and fraternity. This document was inspired by The Enlightenment.

    Womens March on Versailles

    During these two days 7,000 women marched to the castle and demanded food to feed their families. The women were so enraged that several of them punctured the queen's bed with their weapons. This revolt was unsuccessful.
  • New Government

    On this date the new Legislative Assembly was approved. This assembly included men that are 25 or older and taxpayers, stating that these citizens have the right to vote. During this period a new constitution was written declaring a constitutional monarchy.
  • Intervention of Foreign Powers

    Intervention of Foreign Powers
    Austria and Prussia issued a warning to France. They declared that is the French took away any of Mary Antoinette's power that they would start war. To prove their point, they send 50,000 troops to the French boarder.
  • End of Monarchy

    On this date the French Monarchy officially came to an end, the new constitution stated that there would now be a constitutional monarchy. This meant that the ruler must follow certain laws; their power would now be restricted.

    King Louis XVI is Executed
    King Louis XVI was executed because he was found guilty for treason. He sent to the Guillotine and beheaded. After his death, the crowds watching his execution cheered as his head was held for them to see.

    Arrest of King Louis XVI
    King Louis XVI was arrested and accused of treason. Although he denied committing these acts, he was found guilty. He was escorted to the prison in a carriage.

    The Reign of Terror was a period during the French Revolution in which the Robespierre-led government executed thousands of political figures and ordinary citizens. People were commonly executed in the guillotine.
