    Louis XVI is crowned King of France
    In June of 1775, Louis Auguste was crowned the king of France. His reign lasted from 1774 to 1792 when he was put to death after he was convicted of treason.

    This was the first meeting of the French estates since 1614. King Louis XVI called this meeting in order to solve his financial problems in France.

    The third estate decided to seperate themselves from the first and second. Thid formed the National Assembly as part of the Estates General to pass laws.

    Three days after the Estates General began and the National Assembly was formed, the third estate was locked out of the meeting room at Versailles. The third estate then broke in to an indoor tennis court and all pledged to stay untill a new constitution was established.

    After causing France to go into major debt, Louis XVi and the rest of the royal family, were forced to leave Versailles. The people became extremly fed up with the kings decisions, so the women of France rioted and stormed Versailles.

    On January 21, 1793, King Louis XVI was convicted of treason and was sentenced to death by guillotine. His wife Marie Antonette was eventually sentenced to death in October of 1793.

    Thid was the government in France during part of the French Revolution. The five directors all had power but only one of the people in charge had ever had any leadership background.

    Napoleon rose to power during the later stages of the French Revolution. He won most of the battles he entered. Napoleon ruled for about 11 years.

    In June of 1812, Napoleon Bonaparte crossed the Neman river in order to defeat the Russian Army. This was also refered to as the Patriotic War of 1812. The purpose of this war was to try to liberate Poland from the threat of Russia.

    In June of 1815, Napoleon was defeated by the Seventh Coalition. The Seventh Coalition consists of the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Hanover, Nassau, Brunswick, and Prussia.
