After many disputes between the English and French over land ownership, war breaks out. The native people side with both the English and the French. -

After seven years of fighting, the war ends with the Treaty of Paris. -
Proclamation of 1763
After fighting the war for seven years, the King placed a boundary to prevent further conflict with the natives. This angered the colonists. -
Sugar Act
An act which placed taxes on cloth, sugar, coffee, and wine.It required resources like tobacco, timber, and sugar to be directly shipped back to England. The purpose was to stop colonists from smuggling goods in and out of colonies. The act also gave naval offices writs of assistance. -
Stamp Act
This act imposed tax on all legal documents, newspapers, pamphlets, and decks of cards coming into the colony. -
Declaratory Act
This reminded the colonists who was more powerful. It allowed the King to create laws for the colonies. -
Townshed Act
This act placed tax on paper, glass, and coloring for paint. -
Boston Massacre
British soliders fought against civilans. Afterward many propaganda cartoons and articles were created about the event. -
Tea Act
This act prohibted tea bought from any company other than the top English company - East India Company. -
Boston Tea Party
Angry colonists protest by dumping tea in the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
England placed several consequences after the Boston Tea Party including harbor was closed, Massachusets colonists werent allowed to have town meetings without permission, British officals accused of crimes would have to return to England for "fair" trial. -
Signing of the Declaration of Independence
Representitives of every colony met to sign for their independence.
