French & Indian War
This is the first battle Washington defeats the French. The American colonists were upset by the taxes. -
Sugar Act
British legislation tried to end the smuggling trade in sugar and molasses from the French and Dutch West Indie by providing increased revenues to fund British Empire responsibilities following the French and Indian War. The American colonists protested this act. -
Stamp Act
The British Parliament in 1765 exacted revenue from the American colonies by enforcing a stamp duty on newspapers and legal and commercial documents. The colonists were angered and opposed the act. -
Declaratory Act
Stated that the British Parliament's taxing authority was the same in America as in Great Britain. The American colonists were upset because they sensed more acts were coming. -
Townshend Act
Stated that Britain parliament have the ability to tax the American Colonies such as they do in Great Britain. More protest from the colonist as they feel they are being taxed unfairly. -
Tea Act
Hoping to lower the taxes being pad to Britain regarding tea in order to save the company from bankruptcy. The American colonists were outraged with the amount they had been taxed at this point. -
Revolutionary War
Militiamen clashed with British soldiers in the Battles of Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts starting of the Revolutionary War. The colonists wanted war as they felt they should be free from Britain and it’s ridiculous taxes.
