    Since he still was in big debt because of his wars, and mindless entertainment; the bankers refused to lend him any more money since the debt had simply gone up to high and France faced a very narrow path to recover from this. This is important because after this the revolution kind of sparked.

    Called up since Louis wanted to tax his people, but the second estate forced him to call a meeting.     National Assembly established
    National Assembly was established through vote of the three different states. Also causing, France to not be an Absolute Monarchy anymore. This caused many neighboring countries to prepare for war v.s. France for this crazy "nonesense".   • The Storm of Bastille

    The Storm of Bastille
    A mob searching for gunpowder and arms stormed the Bastille, a Paris prison. They overwhelmed all the guards, (killed some) and overtook the building. After, they hacked the prison commander and several guards, and then paraded with those dead man’s heads on spikes. This made the King nervous and acknowledged that he had no control over his subjects

  • Joining the National Assembly

    Joining the National Assembly
    Some noblemen and clergys joined other members of the National Assembly in sweeping away the feudal privilege of the First and Second Estates, thus making commoners equal to the nobles and the clergy. By morning, the Old Regime was dead.

  • The Declaration of Rights of Men and The Citizens

    The Declaration of Rights of Men and The Citizens
    It was passed by the National Assembly. Which is a document that “men are born and remain free and equal in rights”. This rights included “liberty, property, security and resistance to oppression”. This is important because it lights up a new future for France.

    Rising price of the Bread
    Thousands of Parisian women rioted over the rising price of the bread. First, they demanded the National Assembly to provide bread for the poor; they then went and turned to their king and queen. They broke into their palace, killing some of the guards, and demanded to Louis and Marie to return to Paris. Louis agreed.     The King and Queen's Escape
    King Louis and his family tried to escape France, but were apprehended, and returned to Paris under guard. This attempt to escape also increased the influence of his enemies, and thus sealed his fate.   • New Constitution

    New Constitution
    The National Assembly completed a new constitution, which Louis reluctantly approved. This constitution created a Constitutional Monarchy. It created a new legislative body, the Legislative Assembly. This body had power to create, approve or reject laws / declarations of war. However the king still held the executive power to enforce laws.   • Legislative Army Declare War

    Legislative Army Declare War
    The Legislative Army declared war to countries opposing their ideas, which urged Louis to be restored to his position. (For example Austria and Prussia). But even then Louis never came to power again.
