October 1753
Virginia Lt. Dinwiddie, sends 21-year old George Washington to tell the French to leave the Ohio River Valley. This is the start of the French and Indian War.

Fort Necessity
July 3, 1754
French and allies attack Fort Necessity, Washington surrenders.

Fort Oswego
During the week of August 10, 1756, a force of Canadien militia under General Montcalm captured and occupied the British Fort Oswego, located at the site of present-day Oswego, New York. -
Lake George
General James Abercrombie and Lord Howe gathered 16,000 men on the south shore of Lake George. On July 6th they arrived at the north end of the lake and proceeded to head towards Fort Carillon. They attacked on July 8th. The British were defeated and it was a victory for Montcalm, defending Carillon.

The British Take Quebec
September 13, 1759
The British attack Quebec in a short battle, and claim it as theirs. Wolfe died in this battle and Montcalm died the next day.

Pontiac's Rebellion
British settlers moved into Native American land and the Native Americans responded by attacking and nearly destroying every British fort West of the Appalachians. This led to the making of the Proclamation of 1763.
