  • Start of the French and Indian war

    Start of the French and Indian war
    The French and Indian war lasted around 7 years. This war was fought between mainly the British and French. The Treaty of Paris eventually brought an end to this seven year war.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was established to prevent smuggling in sugar and molasses and enforced the increased the taxes. The colonists were angry because they had no representation in government.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was a tax on all papered goods. This affected the people who bought a lot of paper. Colonists coordinated a boycott and a group known as "Sons of Liberty" started getting violent and the act was eventually repealed.
  • Declatory Act

    Declatory Act
    British Parliament declared this Act right as the Stamp Act was repealed. This act declared that British parliament had the right to tax the people. Some colonists ignored the Declatory act because they were celebrating the stamp act being repealed while some were angry because they knew this meant more Acts were coming.
  • Townshed Act

    Townshed Act
    The Townshed act was an act put into place by parliament that taxed goods imported to the American colonies. Colonists saw this as an abuse of power and responded with a boycott.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was a tax exempt and rebates for tea coming from the British east India company. The colonists were angry on principal and colonists dressed up as Indians and dumped the British east India companies tea into the Boston harbor
  • Revolutionary War

    Revolutionary War
    The revolutionary war started from the growing tensions between Great Britain's thirteen American colonies and the colonial government. This was also the fight for independence from Great Britain. Colonists were required to house soldiers also known as the quartering act which upset the colonists, as well as required to follow many more acts as well.
