French and Indian War-Declaration of Independence

    This proclamation banned settlement in the western lands for all British colonies. It was issued to stop fights and disputes with the Native Americans. While most colonies were upset with this Georgia was okay, because they ended up gaining more land than they had before

    During this time the colonists began to fight back against the British Monarchy until they decided to break up with them using the Decleration of Independence
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act set taxes on cloth,sugar.coffee, and wine.The colonists were now only allowed to trade with Britain and British ships were given writs of assistance. These writs if assistance allowed British ships to board colony ships and check for smuggled goods.
  • Stamp Act

    This act taxed legal documents, news papers, pamphlets and decks of cards!
  • Declaratory Act

    The declaratory Act of 1766 allowed was passed to allow Parliment to pass laws for the colonies while in England. The Act also was created to remind the colonists who was in charge, King George III.
  • Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act taxed tea,paper,glass, and paint colors. The colonists denied this act by having tiny windows in houses, not painting there houses. This act only lasted until July 2,1767 when Parliment repealed taxes on evrything except tea.
  • Tea Act

    The colonists could only buy tea from the East India Company. This saved the company from going banrupt and formed them into a Monopoly.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a response to the Tea Act of 1773. Colonists dressed as Native Americans and snuck onto British ships. They then began throwing barrels of tea over the sides of the boats.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Parliment passed this act as a form of punishment toward the colonists that consisted of three laws.
    1.Boston Harbour was closed. This stopped the people of Boston from getting the supplies they needed to survive.
    2.Massachusets colonists could not have town meetings without a governors approval.
    3.British officials accused of crimes would be tried in Britain, where the court would be on the officials side helping him get away with little or no punishment for his crimes.
    4.Quartering Act.

    Citizens were forced to house and feed soldiers with moeny out of their own wallets.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence was where all of the colonies leaders gathered together to write the greatest break up letter ever. The Decleration stated what the colonists did not like about being under British rule. They wanted away from it so the colonies wrote this to the King of England.
