George Washington Creating Ft. Necessity
June 4th, 1754, during French and Indian War (Seven Years War), a man named George Washington begins to build a Fort to defend his forces. They called it Fort necessity. It stands today as a landmark in Pennsylvania, U.S. even after Washington's surrender one month later. -
French take Ft. Oswego
This French victory almost assured the Natives that the British were sure to lose. Also, after this battle, the Natives came to trusting France a lot more. This fort, built in 1727, still stands in Oswego County, New York. -
Massacre at Ft. William Henry
The Natives went against the rules of agreement to surrender and killed many of the British soldiers at Fort William Henry.
The Natives took many prisoners and brought them to Canada.
Close to 185 British soldiers were murdered. -
Louisbourg and Ft. Duquesne Captured By British
The capturing of Louisbourg and Fort Duquesne by the British caused the French to retreat to Canada again. This then causes the British to push to Canada. The losing of this Fort caused the French to eventually lose Canada. -
Battle of the Plains of Abraham
The battle of the Plains of Abraham, also known as the Battle of Quebec, was a battle between the British and the French. This battle determined who would take or keep New France (Canada). This battle let the British get even closer to the American Revolution and the French and more so, victory. -
Battle of Quiberon Bay
This battle was between the British Navy and the French Navy. This battle was caused because of the French Navy's effort to invade Great Britain. This British victory most likely saved most or all of Great Britain. -
French Surrender Montreal
The British invaded Montreal with over 18,000 troops. The British invaded about a year after the French troops were defeated in the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. Winning this battle secured the British control over New France (Canada). -
Siege of Havana
The British capture Havana, Manila in a great siege attempting to weaken the Spanish navy. On order from Lord Anson, the British took this as an opportunity to gain healthy objectives that would help the British win the war. Taking Havana caused almost all Spanish import to be cancelled. -
William Pitt Leading the British
William Pitt was a member of the British Cabinet was it's informal leader from 1756 to 1761. During the French and Indian War, Pitt led the ministry to victory. Even after all of this, he kept the title of Lord Privy Seal and Great Commoner because of his dominance over the French and Indians during the end of the war. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris, also known as the "Articles of Peace", ended the Seven Years War. The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783 ending as a result in British victory. After this Treaty was signed France lost New France (Canada) and gave Louisiana to Spain.
