    The stamp act was a direct tax on legal documents and newspapers. This act was published to give the British a revenue source after they were in debt from the seven years' war. This act made the colonists angry and they took it as far as mob violence to make the tax collectors quit.

    After the French and Indian war the British troops were having a hard time finding housing and provisions. Parliament decided to put into place the Quartering act, which said that the troops would be housed in private homes, inns, barns, and other buildings.

    Parliament wanted to counteract the expenses of governing the colonies, so they decided to put a tax on things such as glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. The colonists met this tax by boycotting British imports.

    The Boston Massacre started with an altercation between a single British soldier and a crowd of colonists. It then escalated when the soldier called for backup. The force of British soldiers faced the colonists and fired on them which set off the colonists and put the British in an even worse light in the colonist's eyes.

    The Boston Tea Party was the famous protest held by Colonists in response to the Tea act. The colonists destroyed British tea which naturally upset the British. The British Parliament then passed a set of four laws titled the Intolerable Acts. The Boston port bill let the British blockade the harbor, the Massachusetts government act replaced the colonist's government, the Administration of Justice act let British officials t be tried in Europe, and the Quartering act.

    Lexington and Concord
    The British were searching for hidden colonist weapon stockpiles, the colonists were pushed back from Lexington by the British. The British soldiers then moved into Concord and destroyed the colonist's stockpiles.

    The British were going to push and try to capture the hills Bunker, and Breeds. The colonists fought them off long and hard until the British finally pulled back and took control of Breeds hill, which the British had thought was Bunker Hill.

  • Saratoga

    The Colonists had aimed to push the British back from reaching Albany. The Colonists had successfully done so which led to the surrender of over 6,000 British troops to the Colonists. The French joined forces with the Colonists which would lead to a change in the tide of the war.
  • Valley Forge

    Washington's army was not faring well against the harsh winter. They were low on supplies and training. They were trained by a veteran soldier so that they would be adequately trained for their future battles with the British.
