  • The end of the French and Indian war

    The end of the French and Indian war
    The French and Indian war ended with the British winning against the French. The American colonists however were not happy with the war's outcome because Great Britain decided to start taxing the colonists without their say as a way to pay off their war debt.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was the first Act that the British passed which caused the colonists to be taxed on all sugar and molasses. The colonists reacted by protesting against the British because they were taxing them and the colonists had no say in what they were being taxed on.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was an act that made colonists have to get taxed on all paper products and the paper products would be stamped to represent the tax. The colonists reacted by having violent protests because they argued that they couldn't be taxed on something they had no say or representation on.
  • The Declaratory Act

    The Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act was made after the Stamp Act was taken down to tell the colonists the British could tax the colonies however they wanted in whatever way they wanted like they would in England, its purpose was to make the colonists know that they had power. The colonists were split on the view of the act, some felt that it was a victory because the Stamp Act was taken down while others felt that this was a sign more unfair and unjust acts would come out of it.
  • The Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts made the colonists be taxed on tea, glass, lead, paint, and paper. This greatly angered the colonists and they acted out by having large and violent protests and extensive boycotts on British goods imported.
  • The Tea Acts

    The Tea Acts
    The Tea Act was passed to give the British East India Company full control over the tea trade in America which raised the tax on tea which was already in place from the Townshend Acts. The colonists reacted by boycotting tea and it eventually led to the Boston Tea Party which cost England 92,000 pounds of tea.
  • The start of the Revolutionary War

    The start of the Revolutionary War
    The Revolutionary War was a war that would begin at Lexington after a shot was fired which caused the British and American colonists to start fighting and lead to a war. The colonists reacted by fighting back because of their opposition of the British government who tried to repeatedly tax them unjustly and they just got fed up with it.
