    The Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Senca peoples who were known for being at war with each other often, formed an alliance known as The Iroquois League. This was formed in 1570.

    The French Built Fort Duquesne at the point where the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers join to form the Ohio which is now Pittsburgh today. The conflict begins because a Virginia-based land company planned to bring settlers there.

    In 1754 George Washington and his military attempt to take back the land where the French built Fort Duquesne. This attempt was unsuccessful and started the first "battles" of the French and Indian War.

    A representative from New York, New England, Maryland and Pennsylvania all met in Albany due to the push of British officials. They wanted to achieve a sort of unity among the colonies while also winning the support of the Iroquois League. Benjamin Franklin proposed the Albany Plan of Union as a way to colonial unity. This was the first plan to unite the colonies. This plan was never approved.

    The British with Edward Braddock as their commander and George Washington as his chief aid attempted to capture Fort Duquesne. The British were easy ambush targets to the French and their Native American allies. That being said almost 1,000 were left wounded and or dead. George Washington reacted to this loss by going in himself.

    The French continue getting many victories, two of those being the capture of Fort Oswego on lake Ontario, and Fort William Henry on lake George. These captures took place in 1756, lead by the Marquis de Montcalm the French commander.

    In 1757 William Pitt Became the British secretary of state. That job had him take control of directing the war. He did many things including sending soldiers to live in colonists houses. Colonists did not like his new policies. William later relaxed on some of the rules he created.

    Montcalm the French Commanders greatest battle of all his victories was at Fort Ticonderoga. This battle started in 1758. In this battle 3,800 of his men turned back a British force of 15,000.

    In 1758 the colonial troops and the British recaptured Fort Duquesne. As a result of this Native American allies of the French began to desert them.
  • Quebecs Surrendering

    Quebecs Surrendering
    The British found a path up the cliff from the river to Quebec cities location. In the battle that was caused by that both commanders were killed. That lead to Quebec's surrender in September 1759.
