Fort Duquesne
A fort established by the French at the junction of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers in what is now downtown. -
Battle of Fort Necessity
Also named "Battle of the Great Meadows". Occurred July 3, 1754 in Farmington, Pennsylvania. It was one of the first Indian vs. French battles that had ever occurred. Contributed to the happening of the Seven Years War. -
Albany Plan of Union
A plan to place the British North American colonies under a more centralized government. Adopted by North American representatives. It was the first plan to have colonies under one government. -
Battle of Fort Dusquesne
British assault on the French Fort that is now known as Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Finished with heavy losses. It was also apart of a huge expedition. -
Battle of Quebec
British and Americans against the French and Canadians. The British army had about 8,000 troops. Occurred during the Seven Years War. It was basically almost a worldwide conflict. -
Treaty of Paris
Can also be known as the Peace of Paris. Signed after Britain's victory over France and Spain during the Seven Years War. It formally ended the Seven Years War which marked the beginning of a British era. -
George Grenville becomes British Prime Minister
Lord Bute had resigned from his position. His government tried to bring public spending under control. He is best known for the Stamp Act. He restrained many relations. -
Pontiac's Rebellion
I'm not quite sure of the date, but it did start in May. Launched in 1763 by a loose confederation of elements of Native American tribes primarily from the Great Lakes region. -
British Parliament passes the Proclamation of 1763
Removed barriers and opened up a host of new opportunities for the colonists. Was particularly made to keep peace within the Natives. -
Parliament passes the Sugar Act
raise revenue for Parliament. Led to a saddening of the Thirteen Colonies because the colonists became concerned that Britain was taking advantage of them. This led to the beginning of the American Revolution. -
William Pitt becomes British Prime Minister
He made his first speech to the House of Commons on this date and it was around that time that he became Prime Minister. He served being Prime Minister twice. He had the best speech ever.
