The Irouquois Confederacy
The Irouquois Confederacy, or aslso known as the six nations, included six nations. The Mohawk, Seneca, Cayuga, Onodaga, Oneida, and the Tuscarora. In 1750 they alied with the british for trade reasons, and upset the balance of power. -
British French Rivalry
Bitterness grew beetween the french and british, when the british started looking at the ohio river valley. In the 1740s hostility grew. British traders build a for called Pickawilliany. Acting on there feet the french attacked and drove them out. They also began raiding towns in maine and newyork. In response some new englanders captured a french fortress at louisbourg. To the new englanders distaste, britian returned the fortress. -
Native Americans take sides
The french and British both knew that the native americans were important alies. The french had an advantage, because of their many alies. The french were more interested in fur trading and trapping. The indians also helped because the french brought religion to the natives. -
American Colonists take action
A group of virginians had plans for settleing in the ohio river valley and gerge washington (when he was in his early 20s) was sent to remove them. The message did no good, and they made it abious, that they planned to stay. -
The Albany Plan of Union
The colonies met to disscuss the threat of war. Benjamin Franklin had a plan called for "one general government". This plan failed. -
Fort necessity
In 1754 george washington fought the french in what today is known as Pennsylvania. Acording to washington a tremendous rain filled there trenches and forced them to use there bayonets for defence. -
Washingtons first command
George washington was made a lieutenant colonel and was sent to make a fort in the ohio river valley, only to find the french already building a fort. Washington attacked, and lost but was reguarded as a hero for being the first to strike.
