Francis Bacon
Francis Bacon is born. A man of science and philosophy, his baconian method was a precursor to the scientific method. -
Use of induction in Baconian method
Method first put fourth in book "Novum Organum" Bacon believed in reasoning, and that one could prove something by determining the causes of the phenomenon and seeing how frequently they occur. Bacon did not however, believe in hypothsises. -
Deduction proven as sufficient to induction
Scientific philosopher Karl Popper made the conclusion that induction is not correct, and the previously accepted scientific method is incrrect. -
