During the 1700s, Britian and France were two of the strongest powers in Europe. -
Confederacy
A confederacy of indians initially included five nations. The Mohawk, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondada, and Oneida. One, the Tuscarora, later joined in 1722, which the English reffered to the confederacy as the Six Nations. -
British and the French
In the 1740s, hostility between the two forces, the Brittish and the French, grew. since the 1700s when they were both really strong powers. The British built a fort called Pickawillany which the French attacked and drove the British raders out to Ohio. -
The Iroquios
By the mid 1700s, the Iroquios, which conquered the native american groups, became under greater pressure as the British moved into the Ohio Valley. This happened because of Skillfully playing the British and French against each other. -

In the fall of 1753, Govener Rebert Dinwiddie of Virginia sent a surveyer named George Washington into the Ohio Country. His mission was to tell the French that they were tresspassing on land that great britian claimed. He was to demand that they leave, -
Wasingtons First Command
In the spring of 1754, Dinwiddie made Washington a lieutenant colonel. He then sent him back to the Ohio Country with a milita of 150 men to built a fort, but they arrived to see the French already building a fort on the spot that they wanted. -
Threat of War
Representatives from several colonies met in Albany, NY, to discuss the threat of war. They wanted to find a way to defend themselves against the French. They also hoped to pursuade the Iroguois to support the British.
