Treaty of Versailles
The big three of this treaty were Clemenceau ( the prime minister of France), George Lloyd ( from Britain) and Woodrow Wilson ( from the US).The french wanted revenge on the Germans. They thought the Treaty of Versailles was not being hard enough and they wanted Germany to pay for all of the repairs. -
The flourishing of the cinematography
France was the birthplace of the cinema and it started to circulate and be one of the most controvertial creations until WW1 started. Once the war was over, the cinema flourished once again and 200 movies were filmed; but the U.S was now better than the french; something that never changed. -
The League of Nations
The most powerful members of the League of Natios were Britain and France.The League of Nations was created with the purpose of impproving people´s life and jobs, disarmament and enforce the Treaty of Versailles. France was in total agreement with this League because they suffered financially and militarilly during and after WW1. -
Beginning of Franco-Belgian occupation of the Ruhr
The occupation of the Ruhr lasted 2 years by troops from France and Belgium. The purpose of France was to enforce German payment of all damages caused during WW1. As a consequence, the German economy collapsed and the unenployment increased. -
The Olympic Games in France
The Summer Olympic Games took place in the capital of France, Paris in 1924. The events took place at the Colombes' stadium which had a capacity of 45,000. The cost of the games was estimated to be 10,000,000( French Francs). France which was the host nation received 13 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 10 bronze medals. -

World War ll started and France declares war on Germany. This war is going to be considered a total war, involving most of the world`s nations. Two sides are going to be created; the Allies and the Axis. -

The treaty of Paris was signed between Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, West Germany and Italy. The treaty extablished the ECSC ( European Coal and Steel Community). Before the treaty came into force it went through three different stages. The preparation stage, the negotiation stage and finally the ratification stage. -

Marcel Bich was the creator of a new product; a pen which was disposable. BIC was the name of this new brand. Around 3.000.000 are sell each year. -
Charles de Gaulle became the first president of the Fifth Republic
Charles de Gaulle was a French general and statesman. Gaulle led the French army during WW2. He was the founder of the Fifth Republic and later on was recognized as one of the most important Presidents in history. The New Orleans airport receives his name as well as one of the most important streets. Charles died on November 9, 1970. -
End of Algerian War and its independence
The French were tired of being treated as second-class citizens. This war of liberation lasted for 8 years (1954-1962) until the President Charles de Gaulle declared Algeria as an independent country. -
Protests in France
(From may 3,1968 to June 1968) During this period of time there was a educational reform in which there were different confrontations between students and and police. Students wanted the government to reopen the Nanterre Campus of the University of Paris. As a consequence, there was a huge political impact, the Maoism imfluence started to grow as well as the euro-communism. -

Sephora is a brand of cosmetics which was founded in paris in 1970. The first store in the US was oppened in New York City in 1998. There are more than 1,300 stores in 17 different countries. Its important to mention that Sephora supports charity causes such as women's health and child education. -
Lady Di died
Diana, Princess of Wales most known as Lady Di died in France, Paris in 1997. Lady DI died in a car accident in the Pont del l'Alma. This was a very controveltial event because the secret relation she had with Dodi Al Fayed was now public which was an scandal for the Monarchy of The United Kingdom. -
France won the FIFA World Cup
The FIFA world cup is one of the most important events awarded every four years. This football competition of senior men occurs between teams of different nationalities. In 1998 France had the opportunity to win their first and only cup. -
Introduction of the Euro in France
The purpose of having Euros all around Europe was to create a monetary and economic union. Some countries opposed such as the UK and Denmark. At this time one euro was exchanged for 6.55957 French Francs. In 2002 the new coins started to circulate around Europe.
