    On this day the Constitution of Independence was signed. It was the American colonists' first official step toward taking independence. It was their way to explain colonists' right to evolution.

    This is the location of the 1777-1778 winter encampment of the Continental Army.

    This was when we adopted the Articles of Confederation as the first constitution of the United States.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Americans wanted to convince the peace conference in Europe that they had the right to demand independence for all 13 colonies. This was the final battle of the American Revolution.
  • Presidential inauguration of George Washington

    This was held nearly two months after the beginning of the first four-year term of George Washington as president. This was when he took the oath of office as the first president of the United States.
  • Washingtons Farewell Adress

    This was used to serve as a guide to the future statecraft for the American public and his successors in office. He urged Americans to subordinate sectional jealousies to common national interests.
  • The death of George Washington

    George Washington ended up passing away because of a throat infection. He was an important person because he created high standards in all political, military, and economic areas. He also played a role in shaping the offices future role.
  • Election Day, 1800

    Vice President Thomas Jefferson defeated the Federalist Party candidate, President John Adams.
  • Marbury vs Madison

    This established the principle of the judicial review in the United States. This means that courts have the right to strike down laws that they feel violates the American Constitution.
