  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party occurred when 342 crates of tea were thrown off of a British ship by a bunch of Americans disguised as Indians. The Americans were upset because of the taxes and the tea.
  • The Battles of Lexington and Concord

    Known as the "shot heard around the world" the Battles of Lexington and Concord started because the Americans wanted independence.
  • The Winter at Valley Forge

    Goerge Washington and his army stopped at Valley Forge to sit during the winter and while they were there former military officer Friedrich Wilhelm Baron von Steuben made Goerge Washinton's army in machines.
  • Article of Confederation are Ratified

    March 1, 1781, is the day that all 13 states ratified the Articles of Confederation.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The battle of Yorktown was ended by the British General surrendering to George Washington.
  • The Constitution is Ratified

    All states were given six months to vote on the Constitution. The first was Delaware in December.
  • Presidential Inauguration of George Washington

    George Washington was sworn in as the first United States president in New York City in 1789. There were 10,000 spectators.
  • Washington’s Farewell Address

    Washinton's Farewell Address was written towards the end of his second term as the president. It was written as a valedictory to his friends and citizens.
  • The Death of George Washington

    George Washington had gotten sick from the fast weather changes. He continued to get worse and worse. When he died he wished not to be carried and stayed in a room for 3 days before being buried.
  • Election Day, 1800

    On election day in 1800, Thomas Jefferson beat John Adams for the role of president. It was the first peaceful transition of roles. After 36 ballots Thomas Jefferson was officially elected president on February 17, 1801.
  • Marbury vs. Madison

    Marbury sued James Madison so that he was able to keep his commission. The Supreme Court gave its opinion on the 24th of February in 1803.
