1789 - Constitution is ratified
when the constetution wad ratified only white men were allowed to vote. -
1810 - Religious qualifications dropped
religouse requirements for voting were removed -
1850 - Property requirements dropped
the requierment to own land to vote was removed -
1867 - 15th Amendment
removed racial restrictions on adult men so even slaves could vote and it protected their rights -
1920 - 19th Amendment
the 15th amendment was for womens sufferage which gave women the right to vote -
1961- 23rd Amendment
The 23rd Amendment allows voters of the District of Columbia to participate in presidential elections. -
1964- 24th Amendment
the 24th amendment baned the poll tax as a requirement for federal voting -
1965 - Voting Rights Act of 1965
This act protects the rights of minority voters and eliminates voting barriers such as the literacy test -
1971- 26th Amendment
made it so that no one under the adge of 18 was allowed to vote
