Was a war between the Republic of Korea (South Korea). It was supported by the United Nations. And the other side was the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). And at one time was supported by the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union. -

The Ku Klux Klan is a white supremacist group. They have proven to be extreme and dangerous on several occasions. One of these being the Christmas Eve Bombing on the home of the NAACP. Forrest was named after the founder Nathan Bedford Forrest. -
Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was a long, costly and divisive conflict that pitted the communist government of North Vietnam against South Vietnam and its principal ally, the United States. The conflict was intensified by the ongoing Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. On April 1, 1967 Forrest fights in the war alongside his friend, Benjamin Buford"Bubba" Blue who dies during an ambush. -

It was a competition between the Soviet Union and the U.S. to be the first to get to Space. The U.S. ended the race when we landed two men on the moon. The two were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. -
Elvis Presley
Elvis was known as the King of rock and roll starting in the mid 1950's. He had appeared on the radio, television, and the silver screen. Forrest meets Elvis as a kid, and Forrest teaches him a dance move later known as the hound dog.On August 16, 1977, at age 42, he died of heart failure, which was related to his drug addiction. -
Integration in University of Alabama
A federal district court in Alabama ordered the University of Alabama to admit African American students into it's school.The two students were Vivien Malone and James Hood. These two were admitted during the school's summer session. Forrest witnessed this while he was attending the school. -
Assassination of John F. Kennedy
He got shot in his car at Dealey Plaza in Dalas, Texas. As it was passing the Texas School Book Depository, gunfire suddenly exploded in the plaza. The governor was also hit in the chest but would later recover, unlike President Kennedy who couldn't be saved. -
Civil Rights Movement
The first March from Selma to Montgomery was held on this day. Also known as "Bloody Sunday" — when 600 marchers, protesting the death of Jimmie Lee Jackson and ongoing exclusion from the electoral process.They were then attacked by state and local police with billy clubs and tear gas. -
Hippie Culture
They made their way to Northern California this year. The Human Be-In in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco popularized hippie culture. This lead to the legendary Summer of Love on the West Coast of the United States. -
Robert Kennedy Assassination
Was killed at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. He had just won the California presidential primaries in the 1968 election. Kennedy died in the Good Samaritan Hospital twenty-six hours later. -
Vietnam War protest
Vietnam war Protest began small but in 1965 it gained national Prominence. On this day it was organized by professors against the war at the University of Michigan. After Gump left Vietnam, he got dragged into the war protest by a bunch of hippies. -
Ping Pong Diplomacy
The U.S. got an invitation to play China at China and these were the first Americans to set foot in China since 1949. In the movie, one of these was people were Forrest Gump. Forrest was shown with extreme skill in the game, and later awarded a medal for playing.
