    McCarthyism
    McCarthyism was a campaign against communists in the United States. This campaign was held by Senator Joseph McCarthy. Although most of these innocents were not communists, they suffered consequences such as loosing their jobs or being blacklisted.
  • Ku Klux Klan

    Ku Klux Klan
    A secret organization that was locaated in the southern part of the United States. These individuals that belonged to the group were very active and were against most religions and races. This organization was more directed to the Catholics, Jews, and blacks. The organization was also responsible for many terrible, violent proceedings.

    Brown V. Board
    The Topeka board of education denied admission to an African American girl, Linda Brown, to an all white school close to her house. President Thurgood Marshall stated that it violated theth ammendment. Earl Warren decided that seperated educational facilites was unfair.

    Vietnam was split into two regions: north and south. A communist government in the north- Ho Chi Minh- wanted to make south democratic government under Ngo Dinh Diem. Ho Chi Minh launched a guerilla campaign in the south which was under the communist rule.     Elvis Presley released his first singles while recording for his album the "Heartbreak hotel'. He is known for being one of the greatest performers in Rock and Roll and Pop Culture. His "pelvic thrust' and other dance forms became greatly popular. Presley is now one of the most popular icon from the mid 1950's to present day.

    JFK Assassination
    President John F. Kennedy, the 35rg president of the United states was assassinated in Dallas, TX during a welcome parade. The 'only shooter' has been considered as Lee Harvey Oswald. There has been alot of conspiracies following the mysterious assassination and the magic bullet. The bullet caused seven wounds and still remained in good condition. He was suppposed to be there to talk about natural resources and conservitive ways but he also was hinting his campagn for the next re-election.

    This group was admired by the youth population. They had beliefs that consist of protesting against the Vietnam War, Rock and Roll was born, "sexual resolution"-birth control, and drgs were highly used. Diseases such as HIV/AIDs were unknown during the time but was ver common between around that social group.     Black Panthers Party
    Black Panthers was found in 1966 which is a black political organization. The believed in equality for African Americans as white society and try to prevenmt discrimination in minorities. They are had black militia stationed in black communities and believed in 'black nationalism'. Malcolm X's asassination inspired for the creation of the BPP during the Civil Rights Movement.
  • U.S Moon Landing

    U.S Moon Landing
    This was the first moon landing in the United States. Niel Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Micheal Collins were in the Apollo 11 which took off from the Kennedy Space Center. Niel Arnstrong was the first human to land on the moon and placed an American Flag. The space exploration began during the Space Race between US and the Soviets.

  • John Lennon

    John Lennon
    John Lennon was part of the most famous British boy band called The Beatles. Sadly, he was assassinated in 1980 by an outraged fan; he was constantly threatened by the Nxon Administration to be deported due to his activism against the Vietnam War. His records sold drastically after the fatal tragic and was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1987. He motivated the youth generation during the Hippie Movement.

    Ping Pong in China
    An American Ping Pong player went to China for the 31st World Table Tennis Championship. It was the first American sports group to visit china since communism took over in 1949. Through the Chinese and American relations, this was a strategy for the Foreign Affairs to communicate with China by playing Ping Pong with China's team. This was known as the Ping Pong Diplomacy.

  • Watergate Scandal

    Watergate Scandal
    A buglur happened at the Watergate Hotel in Washington D.C in the office of the Democratic National Committee and wiretapped phones and stole secret documents. His campaign group known as CREEP, Committee for the Re-election of the president, was suspected to be involve in this bulgary and Nixon tried to pay the Buglars so they wouldn't spill anything.
