Little Rock Nine
During the first day of school at Central Highschool, a large group of white people gathered in front of the school and the National Guard was sent by Governor Orval Faubus to stop the nine African American students from attending the Highschool. Soon enough a large group of NAACP lawyers came together including Thurgood Marshall and won a federal district court injunction to prevent the governor from blocking the students way in. The students finally walked into the school on September 23 1957 -

On March 30, 1981 John Hinckley Jr. opened fire on Reagan infront of the Washington Hilton Hotel. The bullet only punctured his lung. After only 12 days in the hospitial Reagan was sent home. -

President Ronald Reagan nominated Sandra Day O'Connor to be the first woman on the U.S. Supreme Court. -
Challenger Disaster
The Challenger launched out of Cape Canaveral Florida and within 73 seconds after the launch the shuttle exploded killing all 7 members of the crew.
