Forrest hip dances with Elvis
Forrest hip dances with Elvis at his house. Elvis likes his dancing and compliments Forrest on the way his hips move due to his leg braces. Elvis later goes on to use this as his signature move on stage. -
Desegregation of University of Alabama
Alabama's Governor George Wallace attempted to block the desegregation of the University of Alabama by standing in the doorway and blocking students from entering. Forrest is trying to get a better look at what is happening. Students are upset and there are many cameras and reporters. -
All american team meets JFK
Forrest Gump and his football team for the University of Alabama meet JFK. They meet him at a party celebrating their all American team. Forrest gets distracted by all the food. -
JFK assassination
Just after Forest meets him, JFK is shot while riding through Texas in a convertible. Everyone is shocked. After describing his experience in the White House, Forrest goes on to say later that year, JFK was assassinated. -
Forrest enters Vietnam War
Forrest Gump enters the Vietnam War. Just before he left, Jenny told Forrest that if there is danger he shouldn't try to be a hero, he should run. He quickly becomes friends with "Bubba" and the commanders like him because he follows orders. In Vietnam, they walk a lot. -
Forrest saves lives in Vietnam
Forrest saves his commander and fellow wounded soldiers in battle. His Commander, Lieutenant Dan didn't want to be saved, but Forrest saved him anyway. The reason he went back into the battle even though Jenny told him not to was to save his friend Bubba. Bubba couldn’t be saved, and died in his arms. -
Forrest receives Medal of Honor from LBJ
Forrest receives a medal of honor for his bravery and hard work and Vietnam. He meets President Johnson, because he is the one who gave Forrest the medal. Forrest was also wounded in battle; he was shot in the buttox. -
Moon Landing
US astronaut Neil Armstrong lands on the Moon. This is an astronomical event but everyone's too busy watching Forrest play ping pong to pay attention. The TV showing the moon landing plays quietly in the background. -
Forrest meets John Lennon
During John Lennon's 1st appearance on dick cavett talk show, Forrest also comes on the show. Forrest meets him, and they go on TV together. Forrest was invited to be on the show because of how he played ping pong in China. -
Watergate break in
President Nixon invited Forest to stay in the Watergate Hotel. He was woken up by people with a lot of flashlights breaking into a unit office. He thought it was a power outage and called security to let them know. He accidentally initiated the Watergate scandal which later led to Nixon's resignation in 1974. -
Hurricane Carmen
Hurricane Carmen struck Louisiana and wiped out most of the shrimping industry. It did not wipe out Forrest’s boat because him and Lieutenant Dan were out at Sea and somehow survived the storm. After that they became in control of the shrimping industry and their company became huge. -
Apple Launch
Apple computer goes public. This makes Forrest and Lieutenant Dan lots of money, because Lieutenant Dan previously invested in the company and now they are rich. Forrest precedes to give Bubba's mom “his share" of the profit.
