African American students attempted to desegregate the University of Alabama in June 1963. Alabama Governor George Wallace had made a campaign promise a year to prevent the school's integration. President Kennedy sent National Guard to let african american in. -

President John F. Kennedy was assassinated as he rode in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, Texas.
Lee Harvey Oswald is the man who shot the president. President Johnson was sworn into office soon after.

On June 5, 1968, presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy was shot three times after giving a speech at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. he was shot by by Palestinian immigrant Sirhan Sirhan. He died 26 hours after he was shot. -
1st Man to Land on the Moon
Apollo 11 landed on the moon in 1969. The 1st humans on the moon are Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Neil Armstrong was the 1st person to step on the moon. -
