He's still praised today for his nonviolent approach to end segregation.Over 200,000 people, ranging from all classes (over a quarter were white) had shown up at the nation's capital, Washington D.C. It's known to be one of the largest political demonstration's in the history of the US. It's well known for the day MLK presented his "I Have a Dream" speech. -
Assassination of President John F. Kennedy
Assassination of JFKPresident Kennedy was in Dallas, Texas to smooth over political tension. Kennedy insisted for the top of the motorcade to be kept down, for it was a beautiful day, regardless of what security recommended. While the motorcade made it's way through the city, Lee Harvey Oswald shot at President Kennedy three times, the fatal shot being the one to the back of his head. Not more than a hour later did hospital official pronounce him dead. -

My Lai MassacreThe My Lai Massacre took place in a small vilage in South Vietnam. Amercan trrops shot at civilians and killed almost 500 of them. Not only did the torture range from being shot at, but women were also raped. The photos that arised out of the My Lai Massacre turned much of American against their own army due to the harsh reality of war and the crime they committed. -
First Man on the Moon
During Kennedy's presidency, he encouraged the progression of the space race. Though he didn't live to see it, Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon in 1969 after Apollo 11 had landed hours earlier. The achievement put America ahead of the Soviet Union in what was the space race. -
Shooting of Governor Wallace
Former governor of Alabama, George Wallace became a victim of an attempted assassination during an outdoor rally. 21-year old Arthur Bremmer shot Wallace five times. The bullets had successfully made imapct upon Wallace's chest, abdomen, while one even got itself lodged in his spinal column. After five hours of surgery, Wallace was left paralyzed from his waist down for the remainder of his life. -

The Watergate Scandal had spoiled Nixon's polical career. He lost support of the public as well as a great majority of the federal government. Ulmately, Nixon had decided to resign as president. Death of Elvis Presley
Elvis Presley was a leading figure in the rock 'n' roll era. He began his career at a young age and was a hearthrob. However, as he got older, he was a victim of deteriorating his own life. As a world renown musician, his touring schedule was very crowded and he rarely ever received a break. He had overdosed one too many times and his unhealthy habits eventually led to a fatal heart attack.
